5. Dilip Kumar

Yusuf Khan famously known as Dilip Kumar or as Tragedy King. He got the job on the merit of his knowledge of good written and spoken English. He managed to set up a sandwich stall at the army club and when the contract ended he headed home to Bombay having saved Rs. 5000 before being spotted by yesteryears actor Devika Raani who owned Bombay Talkies.

The common man of Hindi cinema, Amol Palekar is famous for his convincing “aam aadmi” portrayal on screen and for giving memorable roles in classics like ‘Golmaal’. Amol used to work at the Bank of India before he switched full-time to a career in acting. He decided not to act after 1986 in order to concentrate on filmmaking.
