This happened when Saira Banu braving all the societal barriers decided to marry the king of Indian cinema, Dilip Kumar, in 1966.

This couple worked together in various films and has always stayed by each other’s side as a rock in every phase of their lives. Their romance was no less than a fairytale as the veteran actress confessed herself that she loves him since the time she was not when she was not even an actress and was just 12 years old. But when she entered the film industry, she fell for actor Rajendra Kumar which was not approved by her mother and then actress Naseem Banu. Naseem then decided and played cupid for Saira and Dilip and brought them closer. With the blessings of the respective families, Dilip Saab finally decided to propose Saira and her happiness had no measure.
