‘Begum Jaan’ is based on real events in the past of Punjab during India’s Partition in 1947. Begum Jaan (Vidhya Balan) owns a brothel. she is ferocious and bold and takes good care of all the inmates. The story take a twist when the border between India and Pakistan passes through her house and she is asked to move from that house along with the inmates. But she is not at all ready to leave her brothel.
